Heritage Days - 2009

The “Heritage Days” Church Camp held 19 - 22 August built on last year’s success.  How could it go wrong when it started out with the celebration of Our Lord’s Transfiguration and the blessing of fruit!  Other activities included morning prayer, sing-a-longs, cultural history, Ukrainian folk dancing, language lessons, folk arts, preparing and baking prosphora, structured games, and play time.  We were also blessed to be able take the older youth (12 and up) to a group building and confidence course.  In accordance with tradition, we ended the encampment with a pool party!   The fifteen children who participated were taught, supported, mentored, and supervised by twelve adults (to include a nurse and several certified teachers). Plans for next year include adding yet another day or two (to make it an all week camp) and getting more outside participation.  The St. Michael’s community is blessed by it’s wonderful children, youth, families and adult supporters!
