Occasional Services

  • Service of Repentance:  8:30 AM, first Sunday of each month.  Confession is also available after Vespers, before Liturgy, and upon request.
  • Ukrainian Sunday:  On the first Sunday of each month most of the music and many of the Litanies at the Divine Liturgy are offered in Ukrainian.  Because relatively few of our parishioners are fluent in Ukrainian, the Tropars, Kondaks, Prokimen, Epistle, Gospel, and homily are always offered in English.

Education

  • Church School:  Meets every Sunday after Divine Liturgy.
  • Chanting classes:  Come and learn how music informs our worship (and how to make it happen).
  • Adult Education:  Previous series have included studies of The Shack, The Screwtape Letters, The Way of Ascetics, Orthodoxy and the Paranormal, and several Bible Studies.  Our Lenten study will be on “Orthodoxy, Death, and Dying.”

Special Groups

  • Our Ladies’ Sodality invites everyone to participate in the work they do to support our parish. Come and support this important endeavor! Work schedules: March; April
  • Our Ukrainian Orthodox League is an adult service group.  It sponsors events, performs charity outreach and provides fellowship opportunities for everyone interested.

Put it on your calendar!  The Regionally-renowned St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Festival will be held on Saturday, September 8th.  Big events between then and now include a possible Ukrainian Kitchen in March and a BBQ "Pig Pickin'" on July 15th.  Come join us - these events are open to everyone!

The Woonsocket Patch wrote a Christmas article about our parish: "At St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Christmas Has Just Begun."  Check it out and let us know what you think!  Here's one from last Christmas.

While it is best to shop locally, if you decide to make purchases via the internet, consider getting to your favorite retailer via www.goodsearch.com.  Hook it up to support St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church, then use goodsearch's links to surf from it to the retailer.  A certain percentage of the purchase will go to our parish. We have raised several hundred dollars this way over the last couple of years!  We also earn money when you use Goodsearch as your search engine.  They even have a program that gives St. Michael's money when you go out to eat!

Everyone is welcome!!! On Wednesdays, we meet at 5:30 in the chapel (in the apartment, in the room between the food pantry and the office) for silent prayer.  At 6:00, we follow this with an intercessory service (Moleban).  Then, from 6:30 - 7:15 we meet in the same place for our adult education class on Orthodox Psychology.

Orthodox Calendar

St. Michael's is a parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, which is under the omiphorion of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.

We are a unique community, dedicated to serving God and proclaiming the Good News through the ancient Traditions of the Holy Orthodox Church.  We celebrate and preserve our Faith as it has been passed to us by God through our ancestral homeland Rus'- Ukraine, and we share it with all who would come to know and grow in Christ through the teaching and Mysteries of His Church.

Fr. Anthony is a compassionate pastor.  If you have questions about Orthodoxy or our parish, please ask!  He can also add you to the parish e-mail list so that you can receive things like the weekly homily and bulletin.
